Welcome back to the Cookbook Club! Today I'm sharing my interivew with Amy McCoy, author of the new cookbook "Poor Girl Gourmet", and we have a cookbook giveaway! Enjoy!
Have you ever met someone who just oozes genuine happiness? Someone who is so passionate about what they do that their excitement can hardly be contained within them, and their fervor is contagious? Well, I have! Interviewing Amy was a delight. I couldn't help but smile all throughout my talk with her. Not long ago I came across Amy and her new cookbook while looking for new food-blogs. I was intrigued by the title, of course, but much more interested in her "low budget, high quality food" philosophy. I really wanted to know more about what influenced Amy's easy, rustic, yet gourmet-style recipes. I knew this was a gal I had to meet! Dare I confess that I'm a fan? Yes, I am! Amy's cookbook did not disappoint. There are technique tips, advice on how to help you cut back on the food bill, wine and menu selections, and a small section on splurges, too! All while staying focused on having a small budget and eating in stlye.
From Amy's cookbook I made the Garlicky Tomatoes And Olives With Whole-Wheat Spaghetti, and the Honey-Balsamic Chicken Thighs. Both recipes were devoured here! In fact I liked the Honey-Balsamic Chicken Thighs so much I shared the recipe with my Mama, who also adored it. And the Garlicky Tomatoes And Olives with Whole-Wheat Spaghetti helped keep me sane on the weeknights during Thanksgiving week.
Be sure to take a listen to our conversation (above) to find out more about Amy and her cookbook. Amy shares a recipe during our talk that could be included on your holiday table, too!
A big thank you to Amy McCoy and Andrews McMeel Publishing for providing a "Poor Girl Gourmet" cookbook for a giveaway.
* Congratulations to the winner of the Giveaway! Barbi! Entry 13 - She won on a bonus entry, friends! *

Oh yeah, I am dying to make the balsamic honey chicken thighs! I am a thigh girl -- they are the best part of the chicken, in my not-so-humble opinion.

Great interview! Now you have me craving a pasta bolognese, even though it's only 9:00 AM on a Saturday morning. I started my blog when I was in between jobs, so I always had a "cost per serving" line to remind myself how much food cost. We no longer really worry about "cost per serving," but I think it's nice to have.
