A Shockingly Delicious Pie Celebration ~ Happy National Pie Day!

Happy National Pie Day!

Today I'm going "old school" and sharing a written interview with you. I'm so pleased to be introducing you to one of Southern California's "Pie Queens"! There isn't anyone I'd rather be sharing with day with than Dorothy Reinhold, who reigns from her Pie Kingdom in Malibu, California. Dorothy's food-blog, "Shockingly Delicious" hosts Dorothy's award winning recipes, and they aren't all about pie either. So be sure to visit Dorothy at Shockingly Delicious where she'll share her tried and true recipes, tips that will make you a fabulous home-cook!

I've enjoyed getting to know Dorothy, and reading her food-blog over the last several months. Not to mention Dorothy is just a sweet gal. She probably doesn't know it but she's an inspiration to me. You can't help but be impressed with her cooking and award winning recipes. And those pies! Oh MY! You MUST go check out her!

There isn't any other husband and wife team I'd rather be sharing with you this holiday season! I had the most fun chatting up a storm with Chris and Karen Thornton from their food-blog "The Peche". I call Chris and Karen my "Dream Team" not only because they are so friendly, easy to work with and, frankly, just really super fun, but also because of their ease with each other both in and out of the kitchen.

Be sure to take a listen to our conversation (click the arrow above) to hear what's behind their blog name. And be inspired by their sexy little weeknight dish. Chris and Karen share more than one recipe with you, so don't miss out! Enjoy!

About six months ago I was sitting at a large round table that seats eight-to-ten in a log cabin lodge, alongside a huge fireplace with crackling wood and a burning fire. About 80 other food-bloggers were chatting it up about what it is we food-bloggers do, when a petite little firecracker of a gal stood up to speak. Her name: Marla Meridith. Trust me when I tell you she grabbed my attention. I tucked my unofficial-far-from-her-table introduction away in the back of my mind. I thought to myself, "now there's someone I want to meet." Sure, she's a fiesty, high-energy gal, but what really appealed to me was her strong belief in herself! Little did I know that only about four months later I would be bumping right into her at another food-bloggers meeting (we food-bloggers like to get together) in of all places...the ladies' room! Well, not to be one who will let a moment pass her by, I completely ignored our location and introduced myself! "Hi there, I'm Mac. We both attended Camp Blogaway this past May. It's nice to finally meet you in person!" Let me tell ya, Marla took our meeting in stride. We chatted just a bit, then I slipped quietly back out to rejoin the meeting. It was then I knew I HAD to get the word out to you about Marla and her fun, family-friendly, healthy-recipe blog. The timing is perfect, too. Let's face it, after all the holiday eating we've done, and are about to do, we're ALL going to be in need of a healthy-recipe food-blog to follow like Marla's Family Fresh Cooking!

Take a listen to our chat, and get to know Marla just a bit better.

Welcome back to the Cookbook Club! Today I'm sharing my interivew with Amy McCoy, author of the new cookbook "Poor Girl Gourmet", and we have a cookbook giveaway! Enjoy!

Have you ever met someone who just oozes genuine happiness? Someone who is so passionate about what they do that their excitement can hardly be contained within them, and their fervor is contagious? Well, I have! Interviewing Amy  was a delight. I couldn't help but smile all throughout my talk with her. Not long ago I came across Amy and her new cookbook  while looking for new food-blogs. I was intrigued by the title, of course, but much more interested in her "low budget, high quality food" philosophy. I really wanted to know more about what influenced Amy's easy, rustic, yet gourmet-style recipes. I knew this was a gal I had to meet! Dare I confess that I'm a fan? Yes, I am! Amy's cookbook did not disappoint. There are technique tips, advice on how to help you cut back on the food bill, wine and menu selections, and a small section on splurges, too! All while staying focused on having a small budget and eating in stlye.

An Interview with Chef Neal Fraser ~ Roasted Squash and Chestnut Soup

Not too long ago a family friend told Hubby about Chef Neal Fraser. He asked Hubby if he thought I'd be interested in interviewing the Chef. Hubby said he didn't think so. Hubby said no because he knew that not long before I had a less-than-appealing encounter with a chef that, well, left a bad taste in my mouth. I had said to Hubby that it would be a while before I would be willing to deal with any chefs again. It was one of those bruised ego moments that thankfully passed quickly, and I knew our family friend wouldn't offer up just anyone to me, so I decided to go ahead and inquire. I'm so glad I did, too, because Chef Fraser is an enthusiastic and passionate chef, who not only is working on realizing his dream location for his restaurant "Grace" in the summer of 2011, but he does a lot of philanthropic work, too. Take a listen to our chat, get to know Chef Fraser, and let him walk you through how to make his Roasted Squash and Chestnut Soup recipe! Tomorrow, I'll share with you my version of the recipe.

Chef Fraser, THANK YOU! We here appreciate you taking time out of your busy, busy schedule to chat with us. :-)
