Have I got something really exciting and fun to share with you! There is a new food-blogging site launching today, and you get to hear all about the delish details right here. Dishin' In The Kitchen has the scoop straight from the creator and founder herself, Casey Benedict. I have to tell you that chatting with Casey about her new site, Kitchen-Play, was a joy - she's so excited!

Remember when mom always told you not to play with your food? Well, those days are gone, at least on Kitchen-Play! Casey revealed Kitchen-Play will be "a ground-breaking website devoted to connecting a food blogger to the public relations and markting industries." You better believe I'm bringing this news to you, the home-cook, for good reason. The home-cook (you know, you and me) will have access to recipes from culinary events (The Progressive Party, SideCar Series and Pampered Pantry) sponsored by national brands, argricultural commodities and family-owned and run businesses. Each month you will be able to see the "Big Reveal" and have waiting for you a six course menu created by established food-bloggers, along with some new rising stars, according to Casey. Pick and choose what you'd like to use from the menus, or start getting your holiday party-planning in high gear! As the months progress you'll be able to mix and match recipes from all of the menus to fit your own personal needs.

What a pleasure it is to have dessert-maker Josie Tavares visiting with me in the kitchen today. It's been a while since we've focused on any desserts here. With Fall in the air and the holidays not too far off, it's a welcome change of pace!

I've been getting to know Josie over the last few months, mostly through her blog, Day Dreamer Desserts, which, by the way, is pretty darn fantastic! There are a lot of clever ideas waiting for all of us there! Josie is a self-proclaimed "mad scientist" in the kitchen. I say, if her creative work and day dreaming about desserts is "maddness", bring on the white jackets!

A Visit to the Nestlé Test Kitchen ~ Whole Wheat Ravioli with Sauteed Vegetables

I'm tickled to be able to share my visit to the Nestlé Test Kitchen with you! I hope you enjoy a quick look-see inside. I felt like a kid in a candy store. I'd have skipped through the hallways, too, if I didn't think I would have embarrassed myself. :-)

Be sure to take a listen to my in-the-kitchen interview with Chris Garboski, Head of the Nestlé Test Kitchen. It was back in May when I first met Chris at Camp Blogaway.  In fact Chris' associate, Cynthia, was my bunkmate. On the day we were all returning home many of us drove up to our cabins so that we could easily put our belongings into our cars. On my way back down the hill I had the pleasure of driving Chris to her car. She was a delight to chat with then, and she's been a joy to work with while putting together this weekend's Nestlé USA Celebration. A big thank you to Chris and Nestlé for allowing me to visit their test-kitchen!

*Disclaimer: I was not paid by Nestlé for this interview or post. I did recieve a few Nestle products as a gift, but they are not being reviewed here. My statements are my honest thoughts and opinions.

The recipe you see below is one of Chris' favorite Nestlé Test Kitchen recipes that she and her family dish up in their own home-kitchen. We both hope you will like it. Enjoy!

Grandma said, "Butter"!

Every so often I'll be surprising you with a visitor in the kitchen who will, well, let's just say, be a little off the beaten path. I know how you adore finding new recipes, and connecting with other home-cooks, but today we're all about keeping you safe in your kitchen. Remember...Dishin' In The Kitchen celebrates the home-cook AND the kitchen nook. ;-)

Today we have Emergency and Safety Manager Bob Beecher dishin' it up in the kitchen with us. Be sure to take a listen to the podcast episode as Bob explains just why Grandma's cure for a kitchen burn really isn't such a good idea after all!

Hubby and I used to always say to our children, "safety first". Oh sure, we got the usual rolled eyes that accompany such parenting skills, but it was always worth it when we knew we had taken a moment to step back to remind ourselves and our children that just being aware of your surroundings can ensure a good time is had by all. It's really no different in the kitchen. So this is just my little way of reminding you - "safety first"!
